<< No city on the planet is without street crime. >>

There, of course, are different levels of street crime. Some cities are much safer than others. Most American cities are much, much, MUCHO safer than Mexican or Cuban cities.

<< More than a few canadians have lost their lives in your supposed paradise. >>

Only during open hunting season on Canadians. <g>

<< There was a string of reports a few years ago of shootings of tourists, one big memorable magazine article on the tendency of the heavily armed locals to vent their road rage frustrations with bullets.<< >>

Well, if you feel safer with the wide open crime rate of Mexico, where most "successful" thugs can buy their way out of Mexican courts, then stay behind the iron bars of your home.

<< But i guess that's just part of what you consider your rich cultural tapestry. >>

In any city, there is a possibility of crime. Here in Miami, one has to be somewhat careful concerning the neighborhood one ventures into. One of the safest neighborhoods is little Havana, where the Cuban Exiles live and are building an economy that shames Castro's sewer island.
