The piece really gives itself away when it referred to JDSU as a company without earnings. JDSU has plenty earnings; it's simply using an accounting quirk to make use of a tax shelter by acquisition write-offs. Real estate moguls used to avoid paying taxes by paper depreciations; were you so naive as to think they had no income year after year?
