Perhaps i did not word that well it was due to Asia's low production costs that we did as well as we did. She probably jump started our tech too with Toyoto.
It is now imperative that China joins WTO. For us this means their low labor costs will assist in curbing our inflation.
The yen is now significantly higher than it ws four years ago and the HK is letting go of it ties to the US which is good for them.
Long range yes, we will experience more inflation as Asia pulls her self up. We are very import oriented. We are a mature wealthy economy so at some point India and China will start to grow and prosperity there means higher costs here.
