That would be funny if there weren't lives on the line.

Cuba is quite safe to visit, i hear from non-latino friends ... one is an old guy who has gone with his wife every year for many years now, and for longer now that he's retired ... we were helping him with his spanish ... he has both praise and criticism for the way the country is governed, but all in all he likes it there and loves the people.
