"outperforming" over what time period ? anyways, to stop nit-picking, heres my story :

- A few weeks ago,(I think Mike Buckley) posted a sad margin call story from the Fool site. within a week after that, I got rid of my margin debt. (I owe the taxman a few $s in ST cap gains, I can live with that).

- a few weeks later is what happened last week. me, I'm happy with my approx 45% gain over 12 months at this point in time. it's less than what I had a few weeks ago, but since I aint sold nothing yet, I aint lost nothing yet (is the way I look at it).

outperforming the market

Over the past month that would be damning with faint praise, since my paper losses are huge. My only point is that I was fortunate enough to make some good decisions ahead of this downturn, decisions that have enabled me to better survive it.
