This is a stock market panic. Everyone's emotional. As long as this doesn't result in a wider
credit collapse than margin debt, we'll be ok. Direct margin debt isn't that significant to the
markets.


I agree and undertand what you are saying. The proceeds of all this selling is likely not just covering margin debt. Would the money be sitting in cash accounts until the fear is gone?

Define ok.

How can you possibly say this? The market rides on a very thin cash float. In comparison with the float, margin is substantial. And margin is the tip of the iceberg -- as you must surely realize. Margin is just one class of debt underpinning this market.
