mb, Re: RMBS

You might want to red this post. It looks like performance depends upon heat dissipation. Now here is a way to get good benchmarks without the real world knowing what the real performance is. <ggg>

Michael, yes there are some benchmarks, the superiority is counted in relatively small percentages and is not always present, but I do not think that current systems "bearing" RMBS inside are indicative if what future systems might do. I have not seen anything yet with DDR inside, and that is where the real test will be. Unfortunately, I do not have a URL for you, and I quote only from my own memory.

mb:, Early performance tests, DDR vs RAMBUS
Inquest did some performance comparisons using Micron chips in Nov 99.

Micron supplied InQuest with an early development board based on first silicon of the north
bridge IC and first silicon Micron DDR SDRAMs. Though the silicon is still very fresh, the
system was rock solid at 266MHz with three of the four memory slots were occupied with
registered 64MB DIMMs.

Things may have changed since Nov 99.
