<Why did you never go net short? Because I never wanted to get up in the morning hoping that things would be getting worse. All intellectuals, I think -- and I don't use that as a particularly flattering term -- but all intellectuals tend to have a pessimistic streak > Now that's wacko! I guess he doesn't think Irwin Jacobs, Andrew Viterbi, $ill Gates, Alan Green$pan and thousands and millions of other, happy, achieving, fun-loving, brilliant and creative people are optimistic or he thinks they are not intellectuals. Either way he's wrong, wrong, wrong. I agree with his sentiment, that the overall trend of people is better and better and faster and faster. If not, we'd all still look like chimps. Well, even more like chimps. Some of us still do! Anyway, only a few hours more and it'll be chimp-time in the markets again. Have a happy day folks. Don't forget, things are never so bad that they can't get worse! Meanwhile, hooray for Alan Green$pan who, to my ears, does NOT mumble and is perfectly coherent. I have no problem at all with what he's done and agree with it. Not that he'll save his US currency in the long run from a new Web currency based on production rather than the US$ basis of friction, the ability to tax and hold people hostage while running a currency monopoly. How come Janet Reno and Judge Jackson don't object to his monopoly and monopoly profits? Anyone who thinks interest rates are too high, you should take up lending money! Don't borrow, lend. Then you won't need to moan. Sure is a nice day! [Where is Michael anyway?] Mqurice Dow 16,000 Feb 2002 [after 9300 or whatever it was]
