I agrea that MSFT's "ability to use market share" (=monopoly power) to increase profits is going to be restricted. I'll buy the stock for other reasons: management, balance sheet, track record of innovation, etc.

But, I think the "first mover advantage" is a myth. Who developed, marketed, and first opened a niche for semiconductors, PCs, browsers, Operating Systems, GUI? Those first movers all faltered because, although they did it first (and took the risk of proving that a market existed), someone else came along and did it better. Better wins over first.
