Mika, cdma2000 will work as well as W-CDMA on top of the GSM backbone, core, bottom layers or whatever they are called.

Standards processes are ugly, stultifying, bureaucratic nightmares and the best solution is usually produced by a creative company while the standards gang just gives up and accepts it because it's real, it works better than anything and the customers want it.

I suspect that will be the case here.

W-CDMA is hoping to get some traction through their trials. Same for cdma2000 and HDR.

I dare say that process will roll on and when 2 megabit per second W-CDMA turns out to be a lemon, people will buy cdma2000.

Ericy has both lined up and racing. Nokia better do the same.
