freeus, Your anecdote about your friends who shorted the fundamentally weak companies upon sensing signs of a teck wreck reminds me to mention that one of the issues people have to grapple with is the issue of how much time they can (want to) devote to studying stocks and the market. The shorter the time horizon of a particular strategy, the more time required by the investor/trader. When Frank repeatedly mentions the low risk/reward scenario of silverbacks, I would encourage him in the future to add that it is a low risk/high reward/low effort scenario. That's what makes it especially appealing for many. --Mike Buckley
