Jock, with your 11 million (which I estimate would be 7 or 8 after paying the taxman), if I were you, I would put them in total stock market index and short-term treasuries on a 50/50 ratio. I would then be able to withdraw 4% of my assets every year... forever. That would be 280k to 320k every year. Now I don't know about you but that is a LOT of money to me! And if I did want to speculate, I would try to save up on the 280k and speculate on the amount I saved. But that's just me...
