However brief this relief

. . . . I am relieved. To have opened up would have been eerie. To open down and then rally (even if it's a dead cat bounce) is a better sign for this long day and tense week.

QCOM not tanking at the open only a day before the earnings report/conference call is damn reassuring. In this time-compressed era, maybe QCOM will get a three-hour "run to earnings." I just hope it's not on the Instinet. <ggg>

Keeping my sense of humor on the glorious Porch,
John

Hi Voltaire, I would like to take a little time to thank you for helping everyone. It is times like these that show a persons true moral fiber. You are a true Gentleman.

volt: Interestingly, Dell is not responding anywhere near as well as other major things...I find this very interesting, myself...Feels to me like some big "house" game on Dell also...can you spell goldman sachs?

I have heard from a number of sources that the steep sell-off was primarily caused by institutions (not the individuals) who are selling...

The same thing happened in the sell-off in the fall of 1997...Those damned institutions are overpaid to manage money and they have the WEAKEST stomachs out there...Some of them head for the hills (and sell) at the first signs of trouble...if everyone had that approach, we would quite a market <G>...

I continue to hold through this turbulent period...wish I had some dry powder available...;-)

Best Regards,

Scott

V,

The only thing that worries my is that all the Houses are not acting in unison. I saw a guy from Solomon Smith Barney this morning who was bearish. I've liked what I've heard from most of the others, though.
