FYI, I've had no problem getting Fidelity real time quotes, and they DO allow me to trade a position that has not settled. The biggest reason I love them is they allow LEAPS in an IRA. PM or call me and we can discuss.

I have a "large account" setup with Schwab, and they treat me like a Gorilla! For those of us who are not Day Traders, why bother with these super-cheap brokers who can't handle the business?

reonline brokers
NOt sure it's OT since we need them to do our own buying and selling.
I found Brown just fine: easy to get in, easy to execute, slow however telling me when things executed. I did not do any trading of any sort on Friday however.
Fidelity I only keep my Ira in because they pay 5.8% on cash and I intend to have a lot of cash in there beginning next year when I go full time investing. They are sticklers on everything and very difficult to deal with. Can't have everything I guess. Their website is often down. Also they are TERRIBLE when things, especially options, split. I had Nok options that I wanted to sell immediately on Nok splitting (even though they were/are '02's I believed that the market would make them cheaper in a few weeks). I was able to sell them the day after the split on Brown but I STILL have not been able to sell the ones Ted has in Fidelity and they are now at a loss, whereas they were at a gain at the point I sold mine.
They now will allow him to sell them on the phone with on line commissions but with the options at a loss...well anyway stinky service on recent splits. I had the same trouble with some options on Triquint I had last year: TQNT split 3/2 and it seemed too much for Fidelity to handle for weeks!!!!!!!
