Development in West Palm Beach, Florida

WESTON, Fla., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Havana Republic
(OTC Bulletin Board: HVAR) announced today that it has signed a letter of
intent with the Palladium Group, a New York-based real estate developer, to
open a Havana Republic cigar emporium at City Place, the largest, most
extravagant new retail and entertainment development in South Florida, located
in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach. The City Place Havana Republic
emporium will be Havana Republic's fourth cigar emporium in South Florida.
The $500 million City Place development, which has been designed with an
open-air Italian theme, is scheduled to open on October 27, 2000. It will be
the largest and most extravagant multi-use entertainment and retail complex in
South Florida, with approximately 600,000 square feet of retail space and
restaurants, in addition to 650 residential apartments and three 26-story,
250,000 square foot office towers.
Along with some of the world's most prestigious retailers and restaurants,
City Place will also include a 20-screen Muvico theater, which has been
designed in the ornate style of a Parisian opera house. Among the many
prestigious retailers with locations at City Place will be Macy's, FAO
Schwartz, Barnes & Noble, Bennetton, Armani, Polo, and Guess. Upscale
restaurants include such well-known names as the Cheesecake Factory, Angelo
and Maxies, China Grill, Maya, Legal Seafood and Mezzanote.
Havana Republic will be the exclusive tobacco emporium in City Place.
"We are very excited about opening a Havana Republic cigar emporium at
City Place," commented Steven Schatzman, President of Havana Republic.
"Because of the sheer size and scope of this very upscale, multi-use retail,
entertainment, residential and office development, we expect to enjoy very
strong customer traffic to our City Place emporium."

sale of premium cigars and cigar-related merchandise. The Company also sells
its cigars and accessories on the Internet through its fully interactive
e-commerce site at havanarepublic.com. In addition, the Company
