"Terribly" is a subjective assessment, I think we can agree.

Olasky doesn't matter. Bush's calling him his "ethics advisor" does say something about Bush, though.

Here's a remark Bush made, quoted in the NYT on Friday. The article was about his new accessibility to reporters, his style, etc:

"Last week, he turned to a reporter who grew up in the arid expanse of Australia's most famous rural region with a mock suggestion.

'Outback woman!' he said. 'One of the things I'd like to do sometime is have dinner with you at the Outback steakhouse. That way, we'd have the Outback woman at the Outback steakhouse.'"

He's a simple soul. Terribly simple.

Was there a discussion here of Bush not commuting the execution of the woman who had become a born again Christian? I think there was, though I didn't follow it. I don't even recall her name. I did think of her, though, when someone referred to Bush as a "compassionate" Republican. I remember Bush making fun of her by making a mock-pleading face and in a highpitched voice, mimicking her, saying, "Oh please don't kill me!" or "Please let me live!", something like that. I know the compassion claim was justified by saying his compassion was for the victims. I wondered how the mocking mimicry of her pleas qualifies.

Here's an email someone sent me.

(I haven't done any independent verification of the stats offered. I'd be interested (and reassured) to have any corrected.)
