GIO [edit: GIRO; sorry, lost my R's today] = Grant's Interest Rate Observer, which I mentioned slammed GLW on Friday. GIO will be read by major institutional investors, though some make fun of it. Run by Jim Grant, who used to edit at Barron's. Grant has been bearish since the Pleistocene Age. But he has a following because he is the most eloquent writer on Wall St. (his prose makes Gilder look like the hack he is). Jim Cramer makes fun of Grant all the time because he has been so bearish and wrong for so long. Chanos is a well-known short and sometime-contributor to GIO.
