I have never seen them, but heard about them from another shareholder in Seattle who is not a member of SI. I think it is appalling. Not only does it take advantage of the individual poster, albeit inadvertently, but it looks cheap and tacky.

Junior B-

I have zero complaint about the ads that are in the banners placed above or to the side, they obviously have nothing to do with me. The ones that I find offensive are the ones placed within the message that are the same size type as my message and contain a link.

An unsophisticated user would think that I personally was endorsing this product. Obviously GNET thought there would be some confusion because they decided to include the word advertisement before the link. This is not unlike ads that are formatted to look like editorial content in magazines and that have the word advertisement placed at the top of the page.

If you have been looking at the ads for a while then you have not been logging in, because members don't see them, only people in the non-membership site. How are you posting if you aren't logged in?
