duke, my issue is w/ gtw is a manipulative management team. accounting games is one way they shuck and jive folks. there are others. sg&a dropped drastically while they opened many new stores. that is just the latest. re: intel and your accounting view. intel also buys companies to develop their business. yet, amazingly, they take ONE TIME CHARGES and don't include it in earnings, uh, contrary to your nice accting expose. but we know that gains and losses s/b treated differently, right? right? this one time internet bubble that has made intc wealthy won't occur again from such low levels. go ahead and justify it. it works VERY WELL until it doesn't. when it comes unglued, don't be left holding the bag. all kinds of folks who said they were playin' the game and would get out b4 the fall are wearing long faces and acting stressed...
