Arnold Toynbee, of course, based his work on the idea that civilizations were basically a reflection of the religious sphere of influence in which they arose. Auguste Comte, the father of sociology, thought that religion was central, and tried to develop his own "religion of humanity", based on Roman Catholic ritualism. It is not exactly a novel idea......

Oh please ebill, please, TELL us what a neo- agnostic is? Is it a new age agnostic? Is it a neonatal agnostic? Is it an agnostic who utters neologisms? Or is it simply that you don't understand what an agnostic is- so you think putting a "neo" in front of it will make you look witty, when in fact you are not?
