His namesake was Voltaire
But he was really a cat
"Ruff Ruff" he said and that
was a strange sound for a cat.
It scared the houses though
Because he seemed to know
Just what they were thinking
And just what they'd been drinking
They cannot take a torch
to this luffly porch
