Jim, the extreme narrow breath is self imposed by the talking heads themselves, since all investors hear on CNBC that they should put money only on the big caps.

It seems ironic that (not you but the talking heads) they would complain of lack of participation in the rally.

Definitely in need of a few more days like this.

John

Hey man, your being too hard on yourself. Tops are hard to see-very difficult, although obvious after the fact. Yea, noticed the breadth was weak. I agree, it could go either way although my sense is we are at or very near the bottom. Agree with Greg M. that sentiment got more extreme on the bearish side than when it went too bullish. Like what Tom Galvin at DLJ is saying. He went 90% stocks. Stick with Galvin. I feel the second tier techs will come back soon, third tier and some dot coms maybe never.

JW, I think you are right on the money. This rally had to begin with large caps. That's the safe play. The average investor must regain confidence; it will take time, good earnings, some more movement upward to add a bit of cushion. Then my guess is it will widen.

I'll bet you more people got a margin call in the last week, than all of Q1. And, I'll bet a lot of those folks had never had one before. I'll bet it scared the s#%& out of them.

<Remember your first call? I remember one week last summer I got 3 in the same week! I ended up liquidating and starting over from scratch. Of course that's after I had had 1 a week for about a month...AOL>

Anyway, I digress....

Just wanted you to know, your wit and insight is a cornerstone of the porch dude...

and don't you forget it...

Have a good one,

C-

Jim,

I know you hold yourself to very high standards. You are extremely intelligent & no doubt you push yourself very hard. Don't let this market downturn get the best of you.

Take that break to clear out the cobwebs & get a fresh perspective, but don't give up. Your contributions on the porch raise the level of intelligent discussion. You are an integral part of what makes this porch so special. If you do take some time off, be advised you will be missed.

Just make sure you come back, jackass & all.

Jim Willie!!!!

I aint guessing, but rather watching
lately my analysis has sucked bigtime, embarrassingly so

Good grief surely you have not come to think you are God, only he was perfect.

You are on as much or more than anyone else. I would certainly hate to see you drop out for any reason with the exception you have found the woman of your dreams and need time off to.............

I certainly made a lot of money last year on your calls and hate to loose you as a part of the porch. Hopefully we can all stick to gether and have the success similar to that of last year. Your leaving would be a missing link. I hope you will reconsider.

If you drop out you will certainly be missed by me.

Love ya,
dealer

Jim,
Hang in there, everybody loses their edge sometime if they are any good. The futures traders trade smaller when it happens, they don't stop trading just scale back.
