>>Are whisper's ever lower then consensus?<<

Any fool can make up a whisper number. The significance of a whisper number is how many people believe it and how much of it is priced into the stock.

Are whisper's ever lower then consensus?

Tim,

They can be but its rare....a company will usually advise analysts that they are not performing as well as expected and the guide the consensus estimates down. That should result in a number lower than the whisper number.

For what its worth my understanding is that the whisper number in the past had some credibility but in the last year, its gotten kind of stupid. Most whisper websites let posters give there own est. number and then come out with a 'consensus' whisper number from all the estimates posted......hardly scientific.
