TERN, QCOM not short plays.

TERN is a hard call because its a fun stock to short.. I think if shorters did not cover they lost a lot with the movement of TERN during the rally. I would look for more 'dead cat bounce' for TERN tomorrow but I would never be an investor neither in TERN or QCOM. I would hold QCOM till it hit 145-50 and exit it.

QCOM had a double bottom point & figure breakout on Monday. It still looks like it has legs to 140 to 150 level. It might be short term shorty short, but its just too strong to 'play' at shorting QCOM.. I might have different opinion if it moves up in anticipation of an earnings report but that's only the evening the report comes out. To short QCOM would be deciding the tech sector has finally 'had it' and I don't believe that for a moment. QCOM is a leader .. #1 in the entire communications equipment sector. you cut off the leader the others will drop. QCOM has too many 'strong buys' to sell off just yet. With an EPS growth estimate of 138% and a peg of 1.39, that's not so high any longer. CMVT has a peg 3.21 and an EPS growth estimate of only 39%.

TXN still looks a little overvalued here, and I would buy AFTER a pullback. My preference is AMKR, IRF, MCRL (that moved up a bit too much also but is not overvalued) and ATMI.. for 'investment' purposes. Stocks like QCOM and TXN are more like 'thermometors'.. when the readings are okay I buy the other higher EPS gainers, lower valuation companies. I would rather trade off TXN and QCOM because intraday you can trade the options as they move in a fast market. I had enough experience in NT, a great company that actually tripled, but I got only a double because I thought it was just 'invincible'.. and it wasn't.
