You are underestimating the importance of the performance art dimension for both longs and shorts on SI. It often seems to surpass mere cash in the ol' trading account.

MaryinRed, no it's not just the credit. It has more to do with longs that go out of their way to explain why profitable short sales are bad calls. Have you ever said 'good call on EDIG Pluvia'? Why not? Is it that hard to be a good sport? Oh wait, he violated rule #1 on that call.
