So the evil empire (MSFT) is coming out with their handheld computer based on an improved CE OS whith which they will hope to kill PALM>
All you techno savy COMS followers, please explain to us poor techno-challenged suckers how reliable the CE OS is and will it be adopted for critical applications like banking, hospitals, B2B in general which needs absolute reliability. Other apps like brokers, like Schwab etc., would they want to adopt CE based system. Let's please have a discussion about this here and on the PALM thread. Thanks in advance. Another thought, how popular is Windows NT in critical applications vs Unix, Linux and other OS's and is there not a similarity with the CE vs PALm OS for big business apps.
Best regards and good luck.

Ian

Yes it has all those things like address book, to do list etc. It also has a full keyboard in addition to the small numeric phone keyboard. Have a look at www.nokia.com

I use ot for internet every now and then when I am on the boat. For example I was sailing near Italy last summer when there was a "yr2000" related problem with the GPS navigation system. I visited the (normal) website of the GPS manufacturer and found the solution.

The other thing I use it for daily when on the boat is e-mails sending and receiving.

The communicator is programmable and new software can be downloaded to it. I just found somebody who wrote a basic interpreter for it. (not tried yet)I am also going to download the sw for it that will it make behave like a WAP phone.

I have no personal hands-on experience with the Palm unfortunately. Read the specs. How do you type in an email? Do you have a keyboard or do you have to use the stylus?

What do you think of the new msft machine intro'd today vs the palm?
