The irony is all the chest thumping and preening (on all sides) from people who hide behind pseudonyms and express themselves with little black letters on a PC screen, detached and unaccountable from anything resembling "normal' society.

And they think it "means" something. It means they should get a life, IMHO.

I have come to feel that being a professional trader requires a street fighters nerve - which is accompanied most commonly with a street style bravado. This style makes the trader fight ten times as hard when he/she is down, running against the majority. Every trader will see his/her positions run against him/her time and again, so that style is almost necessary for survival over the long term.

Not entirely necessary, but definitely the norm among pro traders.

In visiting the trading rooms of even the most prestigious investment banks one can witness the same type of behaviors. This is why the traders are considered a lower form of life in investment banking, despite the fact that they earn much of the profits

It's the culture of trading - been that way since long before we got involved.
