GV- I'm curious....are you currently holding EMC and/or looking to buy soon?? I know you had some issues as to valuation...did the Naz's recent gyrations and/or the recent earnings report change your stance??

If you don't hold it..or aren't buying soon...I am amazed that you can spend so much time keeping up with doings at the company....I have a hard enough time keeping up with my current holdings and/or companies I am considering..

Also, I feel that a good comparison (not perfect, but good) on a valuation basis....is EMC vs. Sun.....EMC seems to be similarly valued..if not cheap to Sun (EMC with better bottom-line growth prospects)....what are you thoughts there (of Sun's valuation...future stock appreciation....comparison of competitive positions/strengths.....etc)..

Shark certainly doesn't look to have made any impact on EMC's bottom line so far...

TIA.

I'd call Robert Dutkowsky leaving a "major guy".

Is John McCarthy the guy who left EMC last year to join Xiotech before it was acquired by Seagate? Like Compaq, Xiotech is pushing its SAN-in-a-box at the low- end to mid-range market to sidestep the interoperability issues. Anecdotal reports in the trades suggest that resellers love this concept and are learning to sell servers and storage systems separately because customizing the storage box allows for ancillary revenues.
