Great story! Imagine what would have happened if you had bought one share of a one dollar stock in each of those accounts and then just let the excriment hit the rotating breeze maker when the owner of the account saw those trades. I wish I knew of a way to notify the poor guy whose $175 K I owned for a day. I bet he'd like to know how Fido handles things.

An update on my story -- I couldn't get a letter from Fido saying that the deposit and withdrawal in and out of MY account wasn't my money, leaving me open to possible problems with the IRS. So, I submitted a complaint to the SEC online, that theoretically will require a formal answer. If Fido ignores that, too, I don't know what comes next. No one really seems to care much how sloppy the back office people are. If anything goes wrong it will always be someone else's fault.

Again, great story!

IMO, you should have E-Mailed the person(s) who's account you had access to immediately..... I have learned over the years (especially the last two), that it simply does not pay most of the time to be nice and give the companies you are dealing with any breaks. It's literally "war" out there, and you always have to take steps to protect yourself first. I have spent MANY hours on the phone helping a particular big name brokerage firm over the years straighten out their glitches and problems, and got back very little in return for my efforts. It just does not pay. Try not to waste your time anymore. That is what I've learned. Yogi
