Centura Announces Its Open Source Secure Embedded Database db.star for Pocket PC

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2000-- Centura Software Corp. (Nasdaq:CNTR - news), a leader in e-Business and Information Appliance business-to-business software solutions, announced today the beta availability of db.star(TM) for Pocket PC. db.star is Centura's secure, high-performance open source data management solution, which has been specifically designed for enterprise applications developers working with varying platforms, including Windows-powered Pocket PCs. The open source kernel for db.star is based on over 15 years of proven embedded data management expertise and integrates Centura's patent-pending SafeGarde technology, providing added mobile data security for mobile warriors and Pocket PC users. Market research analyst group International Data Corp. (IDC) has indicated that the worldwide market for Information Appliances will grow from 11 million units in 1999 to 89 million units in 2004. With this rapid growth comes a greater need for secure storage of vital and sensitive corporate information on handheld devices.

Centura's db.star for Pocket PC is the latest addition to the Centura family of open source embedded data management solutions, providing enterprise level features and performance for the mobile market. Secure data storage is available through SafeGarde for db.star for Pocket PC, a Centura add-on product. Utilizing Centura's patent pending SafeGarde technology, developers can rely on 128-bit triple DES encryption to protect their sensitive business data. General availability of db.star for Pocket PC is scheduled for June 2000.

My crystal ball predicts the uptrend starting to CNTR again. Your opinion?
Meanwhile I took some GSTRF shares from Soros below $10. Hope to get nice gain for them soon to purchase finally the G* phone myself. Still nobody can't answer, will it work in Estonia, so the only possibility is to check it out myself.
