Mr. James Newell reports
Star Data Systems has been named as a co-defendant with Fidelity Investments Canada Limited and Fidelity Investments (FMR Corp.) in a statement of claim filed by RPM Technologies Corporation.
"RPM's claim against Star Data is completely without merit. Fidelity chose Star Data as its strategic alliance partner, as we announced on July 5, 2000. It is apparent from RPM's claim that RPM was unsuccessful in establishing a similar alliance with Fidelity," said Alan Hutton, Star Data president, chief executive officer. "We will defend against this claim aggressively to protect the market we have successfully built over the past 15 years."
RPM is seeking an injunction which would effectively prevent Fidelity and Star Data from implementing our strategic alliance. In the alternative, RPM is seeking $30-million in damages from Fidelity and Star Data. Under the terms of the Star Data/Fidelity agreement, Star Data is fully indemnified against the damages claim.

4th quarter 9 cents per share earnings and 30 cents for fiscal 2000.
Any opinions on this Mitchell?
What stands out is fact company has not bought any shares under their normal course issuer bid.At least they never mentioned it.Perhaps the stock is not low enough for them to justify spending money on their shares?
Hutton has almost 500,000 options and shares in Star Data and he does not seem to be concerned about operating a company with a penny stock valuation.
Hard to understand how he could have turned down $8 per share a couple of years ago.
That would have increased his personal wealth by almost $2.5 million and not including the golden parachute he could have woven for himself.
Later,
Richard
