Re: Maybe we should agree to disagree re IBM v. Sun and stick to bashing Intel.

Steve,
You're confusing percentages with actual numbers. IBM increased revenues $6 billion dollars last year, but with 80 some billion in revenues, that doesn't look like much.

In a way, SUNW and IBM are in the same state now as AMD and INTC. SUNW had the better product before IBM, but now they are waiting for an Ultra Sparc III that is severely delayed. Meanwhile, IBM has made tremendous strides with it's RISC chip. A 24-way IBM system can run circles around a 64-way SUNW system.

You don't think this scares SUNW?

Not to mention that SUNW has the worst UNIX OS on the market. They couldn't even keep EBAY's site stable only doing 600 DB commits a minute.

If you need proof, look at the top 500 supercomputer list. The last one came out in November, IBM took the top spot from SGI, the first time ever that SGI wasn't number 1. SUNW lost about 30%. When the new list comes out in June, it will become even more clear that SUNW can't produce quality high-end systems.

PS- I agree, let's stick with bashing INTC.
