Dear Cheryl: Okay, I'm going to ask. On a number of other threads people have also mentioned how Friday the 14th was the last day to sell things to get money for taxes. My question is why the 14th and not yesterday or even today?

Look at it this way: If a person owed tax and sent a check yesterday, the IRS will not get it for a few days. The check itself will probably not be deposited until Thursday (at the earliest). So why sell something ahead of time?

We people who send our forms to Andover, MA have until midnight tonight. Traders in this area (MA, CT, RI, NH, VT, Maine, and most of NY) I should think would have held off selling until yesterday at the earliest.

Maybe you or someone else can make me see the light on why Friday was the last day for people who filed yesterday.

Best regards,

Lynn

P.S. Your comment about the possibility of a janitorial job at SUNW for Corel's old CFO was great. Hey, I'd apply for one if the stock options are good enough--as long as I do not have to clean bathrooms!
