Re: Fixed Broadband Wireless- Winstar and Advance Fiber Communications

Thread- In Advanced Fiber Communications(sym:AFCI) Q1 2000 CC, some details were given about Winstar(sym:WCII). WCII is AFCI's largest customer. Coming in at 25% of revenue. Or in Q1, $21.25 million. In other words, AFCI sold WCII $21 million worth of products for their LMDS broadband rollouts.

AFCI commented that WCII rolled out to 2,000 buildings last year. This year it's on target to rollout to 5,000. Next year they plan to rollout to 20,000! I'm not sure what to make of this? Supposedly there are 700,000 office buildings in the US without fiber(out of a total 4.6 million commercial buildings). So for Winstar to get 20,000 connected via LMDS by next year, seems realistic.

For those that don't know, WCII is a fixed broadband wireless(LMDS) service provider who apparently is ramping up quite rapidly. -MikeM(From Florida)
