<< Interesting viewpoint. I may vote communist yet... or better yet go live on the reservation if this is what it's come to.>>

Viewpoint?,... or fact?,...our history of war and conquest suggests it has been a fact for thousands of years,...and the current relative peace, freedom and prosperity in many developed nations today occurs because of the knowledge we share that several nations, each have the power to end most life on earth with nuclear weapons. I suppose you live in a community that doesn't have a police force of some type, or a group of elders that dictates in some way how you will live in your community. Perhaps there are no military assets there either. There are millions, perhaps billions of fellow human beings out there that would like to have what you have, if they knew of its existence. Why do we have locks on our houses, businesses and cars? Why do we need bank vaults? Why do we insure our possessions against theft? Why are there police and a military, weapons of mass destruction, spy satellites, defense grids, break-in alarms? iron bars on windows? loaded handguns in homes of city dwellers?,.....I guess they don't have or need these things in communist countries or on reserves. Of course there are no criminals, gangsters and thieves were you are from,...what was I thinking? Don't tell anyone where you live,...wish I lived there.

<<I own some techs, and internet stocks, but I'm not fooling myself. This is a mania.>>

I guess the trillions in revenues and billions of profits that many of these companies are making constructing, allowing access to, and providing services on the internet are manic money. Of course the internet is not evolving, getting bigger, needing more and more expenditures on it to make it faster, wider ranging and more useful. It is not really part of the economy. It will soon collapse as we realize that it is a big scam. What a fool I am investing in it, and other technology. I should have put all my money in pure gold mining plays pre- BreX,...and lost a big chunk of it in the last few years. At least I would not have been investing in manias then?? (gggggggggggggggggggg).

Of course it is a mania. It is a high tech gambling casino and the stakes have become high. I've invested in techs too. But I make it a very small portion of my portfolio.
The damage that was done to high tech investors on margin over the past 2 weeks is no joke.
The mauling is farfrom over IMO. The Bear likes to deceive and suck in more money for the next feeding.
Be careful.

David,

You say that you are not fooling yourself in the owning of tech
and internet stocks that have taken a life of their own thru the
control of a mob of mindless investors in a maniac state.

But heed how Rarebird has described what you are activity
engaged in, that of a high tech gambling casino rather than
the type of investing characteristic of a Warren Buffet where
knowing the company's ability to supply a value in exchange
for a return in payment under supply & demand economics
determines an expected return for your investment.

Now, <<high tech gambling casino>> is like a poker game
or musical chairs or blind mans bluff where the outcome of
the investment is determined mostly by the wishes and hopes
and dreams and "I want this outcome to happen". The trap is
the same one present in all gambling events, the house will
take your money until you only have enough for taxie fare home,
but before you leave you will know that you have the opportunity
to reenter the game and capture and reclaim what you thought
was easy money to make, but turned into a lost. No more investing
time, now its pure gambling time, and you stay in the game until
you lost it all, is possible.

Happens every day, and most all that it happens to entered with a

Now that the most gullible ones have toasted margin calls
with a thick layer of sour grapes jelly on top, now the ones
who got out in time see themselves as smarter and quicker
and reentered the game of musical chairs. Each time the
music stops some will be without a chair, by chance now
as the "dumb & dumber" ones have been weeded out,
now only the best of the best remain.

<<Be careful.>>

Ofcourse this post is not directed specially towards you,
but a general to "who it may concern".
