Results look very, very good. Revenues were strong.

The Marconi settlement had something to do with a sales distribution agreement - I think? May have been something else - so don't hold me to it.

Mike:

Surprised you're not familiar with the Marconi settlement. "Pursuant to the agreement, Marconi [is obligated] to purchase for resale $110 million of AFC's UMC1000© product line as follows: $30 million in 2000, $40 million in 2001 and $40 million in 2002. If these amounts are exceeded in any given year Marconi will receive credits for sales in future years. If Marconi does not achieve these amounts in any of the three years, Marconi will pay AFC certain amounts in lieu of product purchases." See fibre.com

The settlement was in culmination of litigation stemming from an alleged breach of a non-disclosure agreement by an ex-AFCI employee who went over to Reltec, which Marconi subsequently acquired. The terms of the settlement are obviously favorable to AFCI & indicative of the validity of the claim. Use by Marconi of AFCI products in overseas markets in which Marconi has established business opens up many opportunities for AFCI in these markets going forward. Pretty sweet deal, eh?
