Bob,
NHP is a pretty good quality REIT and long term, this will be a good entry point. Short term results are going to depend on whether or not nursing home operators can run the places and pay the rents. This has been a problem in the last year, and may continue to be one for the next 2-3 years. It's hard to tell when the crisis is over, or even abating. I refuse to believe an "intelligent" congress would allow the situation to get worse than it already is. If they responded to Hiltons demands to remove the paired-share advantages to MT, PAH, HOT, and FUR; then the strategy should be to give a couple of nursing homes to Hilton, and let them ride congress until the restore the nursing home operators to profitability. Seriously, there must be someone in congress who recognizes that every nursing home operator has lost 50-99% of their value, just because of government interference. Even NHC who has made profits every quarter has lost 80% of their stock value. Here's hoping...
