I won't say that I think being "on margin" is wrongheaded in all circumstances

I would agree with you; Al Frank who has an advisory service called "The Prudent Speculator" with one of the better track records, has had his subscribers margined to the hilt for years. I understand that a few weeks ago, he reduced that to 150% invested because he thought that the market was vulnerable. However, he uses stops on every position to limit damage if there is a significant decline in the market or an individual stock.

I think that the risk in the use of margin lies in its misuse.
