Actually, movies that are so unrealistic as to be rediculous are what insults me (and other Submariner's, I'm sure). I can understand the desire to make a movie entertaining, but c'mon!...driving a sub at flank speed through underwater canyons like a pod racer!! LOL!
Remember that sub movie...can't remember the name...Gene Hackman played the captain, Denzel was the XO? Well, in this movie, the captain had this dog that lived on the sub with him. The dog peed on the missile tube, and some enlisted guy followed behind the dog cleaning up its mess...ROFLMAO!!
In reality, if a captain were so bold as to bring the dog onto the sub, I would suspect that the life expectancy of the dog would be about 1 day. The first time the Captain made someone clean up after the dog, it would probably be found in a torpedo tube...or as part of the C.O.'s evening meal.
