I hadn't read this post when I wrote my last one. I assumed you had been a participant in the earlier discussions here. I guess you now know that I do not believe in late term abortions. Or in mid term abortions. I think they are immoral because they are infanticide and I think infanticide is immoral. I do not think a fertilized ovum or a cell cluster in the early weeks is an infant, I think it is a blueprint for one. I have never had an abortion, but I did have a miscarriage at a few weeks, and picked it up and held it in my hand and looked at it, and it looked like clotted blood with a bit of gristle or fat in it. It was a blueprint for the baby I wanted. It was a painful loss. But I knew what I had lost was the chance to have that pregnancy become a baby-- not the baby it might have become, in time. Sad as I was, and I was very sad, I knew the difference. Any unconfused child should. I think conservatives want to use the strong arm of the government to force everyone to live according to their beliefs. I hope you will answer the restricted question I asked in my earlier post to you. Though I know what your answer has to be. That you believe in government forcing itself into the private lives of a husband and wife whose condom has broken because you you you you you disagree with them. But let me make a prediction: you will talk about "abortions" (I call it infanticide) of nine month pregnancies. Or about sluts who can't keep their panties pulled up. Or about anything but the simple situation I asked you about. Because my situation proves exactly what I said it proves. Conservatives like you want to use the government to intrude on the most private lives of Americans. Just like liberals, only with a different agenda. Conservatives are responsible for defending the anti-sodomy laws that persist even today in some states. Do you think the government should prevent women from giving their men blow jobs? Prosecutions may be rare at this stage, but those who defend that item of government intrusion are conservatives and those who oppose that item of government intrusion are by and large liberals. Same with laws against miscegenation. It was conservatives who supported them and liberals who opposed them. Government intrusion. Conservatives liked it. Liberals opposed Health Department signs in bars notifying women of the dangers to the fetus of alcohol consumption. Liberals opposed notifying the spouses of AIDS-infected prisoners that their returning mates might kill them with sex. See, Michael, how the liberals want to prevent the government from intruding in the private lives of citizens? See? Aren't those liberals wonderful, the way they agree with you about government intrusion into private life? Conservatives love government intrusion just the way liberals do. It's all a matter of who gets to set the agenda for the intrusions.
