Mark,

Some numbers from EMC:

1) The Global 2000 expects that its storage requirements
will double every year for the forseeable future.

2) Dotcoms double their storage requirements every
90 days.

EMC expects that it will be competitive in
consolidating the data of the strongest dotcoms
after the current purge in much the same way that
it has been consolidating the storage requirements
of the US Banking industry during the last 3 years.

3) EMC's internally used numbers about the size of the
Information Landscape:

2000

Enterprise Storage 15B
Midrange 12B
Storage Software 9B
Storage Services 4B
Storage Switches 2B
NAS 2B

Total market $44B

NOTE: For now EMC expects the market to increase
by the same proportion to $78B in 2003.

Over the years, EMC has consistently provided a
valuable top-down view of the information landscape
because of its high-touch relationships with its
customers.

Next week they're going to have "the biggest product announcement in EMC's history."
