(OT)DougRobinson: A runner trying to steal second slides. He doesn't sharpen his spikes before the game and come into the shortstop or second baseman with his spikes aimed at the thighs. That's dirty. A runner trying to score with a catcher blocking the plate...well, that's a tougher one to answer. I've seen catcher's finesse the play, others try to clobber the runner. Remember Pete Rose trying to score? Nothing stood in his way, not even a 250 pound catcher. He'd lower his shoulder and take a good shot at the guy. He was tough and catcher's tended to get outta his way. But in pro-football I've heard of guys trying to intentionally hurt the opposing quarterback, try to put him out of the game; hurt a middle linebacker who's shut down a team's running game. Gotta get ready to trade. We can resume this at another time. (Lee)
