CALGARY, April 20 /CNW-PRN/ - Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd. announces today that effective Monday, April 24, 2000 the company's stock trading symbol on the National Quotation Bureau (``NQB') in the United States will change from ``HHLFQ' to the new symbol ``HHLF' due to the company's emergence from court protection effective March 31, 2000.

The Nasdaq Listing and Hearing Review Council (``Review Council') has advised Hurricane that it will be reviewing the Company's appeal of its 1999 de-listing from the Nasdaq National Market prior to the end of April 2000. A decision of the Review Council is expected sometime in May 2000.

Hurricane's shares trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol HHL.A and on the NQB. The company's website can be accessed at www.hurricane-hhl.com.
