Clark,

I'd be interested to see if you could elaborate on a "new" CDMA system roll-out. If WCDMA systems are set-up, what types of modifications to the system might be necessary?

Wouldn't it then be necessary to go back and redo portions of the ASICS/basestation electronics or software, meaning a potential manufacturer would have to wait until after the trial to ramp production. What sort of timeframe could this cover? Is there a similar timeline that we could use as a reference for IS-95?

As for the 1X, 3X, and HDR systems, how much of QCOM's current expertise will be applicable to reduce this learning curve?

I know they're all pretty broad questions, but if you could venture a best guess for any of them, it would be greatly appreciated.

I can not believe that all of these other countries and companies are testing WCDMA systems and QCOM does not have much to offer. I really believe that they probably have the best working WCDMA model but since it is not to their advantage they are playing it low key. If they come out and said that they are making great inroads in the field of WCDMA than for sure others will not consider going with CDMA2000.

What would happen if QCOM said no to the use of their IP stuff for WCDMA? I still think that QCOM has the final say on that standard going forward.
