Mike, Ray.. I thought that I had an accurate approximation (how's that for word play?) of the number of co buildings, but I can't seem to find it at the moment. You can research the CLLI codes which exist for, among other things, each of the exisiting and planned central offices throughout the country.

CLLI (pronounced silly) stands for Common Language Location Identifier:

"CLLI codes are the most widely used of all the COMMON
LANGUAGE© codes universal to our industry. More than one million
codes have been developed to define locations such as central-office
switching systems and transmission-facility terminations, which are of
greatest importance to small companies. Other examples include
existing and proposed buildings, non-building sites like utility poles,
access holes and customers."

Bellcore, now Telcordia, administers the assignments of clli codes, for what it's worth.

Now, all you need is an "in" over in Telcordia with someone who has password authorization to access the CLONES database. smiles
