Dinesh,

I also wonder about exactly how the auction software fits in with the CRM software. I suspect it has a lot to do with the "e" of eCRM and the growing trend for online auctions to become the method of B2B selling, but I really don't know the exact nature of the fit.

<<CRM software products and auction site operator - how do
you mix the two ?>>

(Excuse me for butting in; you addressed your post to Mike) The way I read the Siebel press release, they are going to be selling auction software along with their CRM software. They are not going to be operating any auction sites, their customers for this software are. Evidently, Siebel thinks that their CRM customers may find it useful to integrate the CRM functions with the auction functions.

Siebel Systems Inc., a maker of customer-service software,
said on Tuesday it agreed to buy closely held OpenSite Inc.
for about $500 million in stock to add Internet auction software
