George, well, that is what usually follows in the wake of a secular bull market, so it's not a big stretch to come to that conclusion.

re. the dollar, i actually think that foreign holdings of dollars are so big, that everybody is afraid of the dollar being dumped eventually. also the whole world lives off the propensity of the US consumer to consume him/herself silly.

it remains one of the great mysteries of our time why so many are still prepared to finance this folly.
of course the central banks around the world with their bubble inflation policies play a major role in keeping this scam going.
US corporations are btw. also heavily involved in the Euro carry trade. over the past 12 months they have borrowed over 300 billion Euro. i know, chump change in the new era...<g>

i think that will ultimately be the trigger for the period of asset liquidation that lies ahead: a blowing up of the Euro/Swiss Franc and gold carry trades.
