jdn, we were nomads when i was small, up and down 66 from kansas to ca., over and over - shades of the joads. the hi desert fascinated me, and after all those years of slaving for the county, i got here for good. it is great country, as long as you have a good well. we are on 40 acres in a side canyon off the rio mimbres valley. seclusion and good neighbors when we feel like going a couple of miles to see them. as to off-roading, am not sure quite what the appeal is; i get into places in the natural course that i just pray i can get back out of. my great fun is searching the wash in my 4wd diesel kubota looking for building stones. later, don
