<<It is primarily a means of respecting our humanity........>>

Very good, Neocon. I am a great believer in doing things because they are right. Learn for the sake of learning. Do good because it is the right thing to do, etc, etc. There are times when humans have chosen to risk their survival for no other reason than to take a stand on a principle. There also times when humans work against the cause of group cohesion for the sake of goodness. Thank God.

According to you it is this. But the way you say it one would think it was QED. Which it isn't.

Morality is not primarily directed towards survival or group cohesion. It is primarily a means of respecting our humanity, differentiating us from the beasts of the field, and treating us as persons rather than chattel........

Is that statement the result of some sort of deductive process, or was it a revelation?
