It is a theory just like yours- or if you prefer, we each have our own "fantasies". Yours is in no way superior, that I can see. Of course it is superior in your own mind, just as mine is in mine, but I can see this, while I think you cannot. I do hope I am wrong.

We determine general principles that are conducive to the long-term survival and prosperity of social groups. We train our children to follow these principles. If we train them well enough, they will follow them even at great individual risk to themselves, as in the example of the Holocaust rescuers. I see no conflict between the observation of people doing right even when it is not individually expedient and the belief that morality was developed by groups seeking to reinforce behaviour that was expedient for the long-term survival of the group.
